SALT,Save A Life Today connects victims to their loved ones in an Emergency. Any Emergency such as a person unconscious on a road, very sick or a vehicle accident can be reported to SALT.

If you ever encounter a situation where a person needs help, then after helping the person in the best possible manner, send an SMS with any identification on the person. Send ID Number such as Driving License Number, Voter Id Number, Aadhar Card Number, Passport Number, PAN Card Number or the Vehicle number in which the person is traveling to 5 62 63 64 65 or 99 58 70 12 12 for BSNL or MTNL users.Anyone from any mobile can send an SMS to Save Lives.

If the person is registered with SALT then we will send an Alert to the Emergency Contact of the person immediately.

For people who are not registered , the emergency alerts will be stored in SALT repository . Anybody seeking information / alert for such reported emergencies can retrieve alerts if any , easily through SALT.


What is the benefit of SALT?

  • SALT connects a victim to his or her family. The victim could be a person who has suddenly gone sick or has met an accident. Upon witnessing, if a passerby sends a notification to SALT by SMS or with SALT Application, then SALT will immediately send the message to the victims family. One needs to register, along with Emergency Contact number to SALT.
  • SALT provides you an Emergency Contact who can be contacted in the case of an emergency.
  • SALT enables you to become an Emergency Contact And Save Lives of people.


What should I do when I see an accident or a person in need?

  • Send alert to SALT about the emergency through an SMS. You may be sending just one SMS but it can make a big difference to the victim's life as you are informing his/her loved ones about the emergency.
  • In case of an accident you only need to note down the registration number of the accident vehicle and the location, and send it to SALT at 5-62-63-64-65 or 99 58 70 12 12 for BSNL or MTNL users.
  • In case of a medical emergency, note the ID Number the victim is carrying and send it to SALT. ID can be any of the following- Driving License, PAN Card , Aadhaar Card, Voter Card, Passport.

What does SALT do?
In the unfortunate event of an emergency, SALT conveys the information provided by the people present on the emergency site, to the Emergency Contact number(s) mentioned by the victim in the registration.

How does SALT work?
There are two phases in SALT Operation
  • One needs to register himself/herself with SALT . Registration process is simple and explained in 'How do I join SALT section of FAQ'. While registering the subscriber shares Emergency Contact number with SALT . These Emergency contact number then becomes the recipient of alert in case an emergency is reported to SALT.
  • As a witness one can easily send an alert to the victim's family using SALT . If the Victim is registered with SALT, the Emergency Contact number of the victim will receive the alert within seconds via SALT .

For people who are not Registered with SALT , the alerts will be stored in SALT repository . Anybody seeking information /alert for such unregistered people can retrieve alerts if any , easily through SALT. .

Who can use SALT?
Everyone can use SALT. You can register to SALT using your Unique ID (Aadhar card, Driving license, PAN, Voter ID or Passport) or just using your vehicle registration number.

In which cities is SALT available?
SALT service is available across India. From metropolitan cities to the remote villages - stretching from Tamil Nadu to J & K, Gujrat to Arunachal Pradesh. Wherever mobile network is available, SALT is available there.

How does SALT know whom to send alerts?
SALT services can be best availed by registering your vehicle or your ID with SALT. While registering you share the phone number of the person to SALT whom you want the alert messages to reach in case of an accident or an emergency. In case an emergency is reported, we call the person registered as your "Emergency Contact". This is how SALT knows whom to alert.

How do I join SALT?
You can join SALT through two methods.
  • The web signup - just go to the signup page and it's smooth sailing from there.
  • Through your phone (via SMS). Simply text " join (your vehicle registration number or ID number), (your name), (your Emergency Contact number)" and then send it to 562636465 or 9958701212 for BSNL or MTNL users. Example "Join UP16E98xx, amit, 9XX1166XXX" You will get an sms that your registration process has started. Next your Emergency Contact has to send "confirm (your mobile number) " to 562636465 or 9958701212 for BSNL or MTNL users. Example "confirm 9910077xxx". Once the confirmation is complete, you will be informed that your registration is successful and you will be provided with your account information. Your Emergency Contact can receive alerts for you in anywhere in India.

What is the SALT registration fee?
Its FREE!Registration of one person with one Emergency Contact number is completely free. No hidden cost. Mobile carrier charges applied.

Do I need GPRS on my phone for SALT?
No, SALT can be used with any phone. SALT works on SMS and call so we do not need to have anything special about our phone to use this service.

Where can I use SALT?
SALT service can be used anywhere in India, i.e. this is a nation wide service. Anybody, anywhere in the country can sign up to this service You don't need a special phone to use SALT. You only need to provide us a few details like your ID, your Vehicle Registration Number, your Name your Emergency Contact Number, your email . And you are facilitated with SALT service all over India.

How do I send alerts?
It's very simple. Whenever you see a medical emergency or an accident, just pull out your phone and send an SMS to 562636465 or 9958701212 for BSNL or MTNL users.
In case of an accident send the registration number of the Vehicle (Car / Scooter / Bus / Truck / 3 Wheeler etc.). In case of medical emergency send ID number (Driving Licence, Voter Card, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Passport) of the person.
To make the information more useful we urge you to put a comma (,) after the Registration Number or ID and write specific details of the location of the emergency. This will help the recipients to have more information about the emergency. Example: UP16E98xx (the vehicle registration number), Near Ashram Chowk Ring Road New Delhi (the location of the accident) or 20150001428 (Driving Licence number), Sec 18 Metro Station Noida (the location of the emergency). .

How much do I have to pay for this service?
Registration with SALT is free.You just have to send one sms to register with SALT. To complete registration process ask your Emergency Contact to confirm for you by sending an SMS to SALT. You can have one vehicle and one Emergency Contact number for free. For multiple vehicles and multiple Emergency Contacts in one account you need to upgrade to premium service. Premium service charges are very nominal.

How do I become an Emergency Contact?
You need to be nominated by subscriber to become their Emergency Contact. The subscriber nominates an Emergency Contact while registering with SALT (i.e while joining). Once nominated you have to send an SMS "CONFIRM SUBSCRIBER'S MOBILE Number" to 5-62-63-64-65 or 99 58 70 12 12 for BSNL or MTNL users.

Is there an age bar for the Emergency Contact?
There is no age restrictions. If the emergency contact number is valid and the Emergency Contact Confirms to receive the alerts, we see no problem in placing that number in your list. Just ensure that the Emergency Contact number you provide should be of someone, who can help you during the hour of need.

Who is an Emergency Contact ?
Emergency Contact is a person to whom the alert message (SMS) and call about the emergency will reach from SALT.
Example: In case of an accident of subscriber's Vehicle (which is registered with SALT) and is reported by some good Samaritan to SALT then the emergency contact will receive the alert (SMS) and call regarding the accident.
For you Emergency Contact can be your Mother, Father, Wife, Brother, Sister, Husband, Son, Daughter, Friend or anyone whom you want should be reached in case of any accident of your vehicle or medical emergency.

Will the Emergency Contact be informed only once?
The Emergency Contact will be informed as many times as the alerts are posted to SALT from the witnesses. All the alerts will be forwarded to the emergency contact in a few seconds. There are no such restrictions for the number of alerts an Emergency Contact can have. As any alert may contain vital information and shouldn't be held back.

How do I change my Emergency Contact?
There are three ways by which you can change your Emergency Contact
  1. Via SMS: Just send an SMS
    "MODIFYEC<space> your old Emergency Contact number, your new Emergency Contact number" to 5-62-63-64-65 or 99 58 70 12 12 for BSNL or MTNL users. NOTE: Your new emergency will have to send their confirmation to SALT. Ask them to send from their mobile an SMS "confirm<space>your registered mobile number" to 5-62-63-64-65 or 99 58 70 12 12 for BSNL or MTNL users.
  2. Via web: Login to your account to change your emergency contact.
  3. Via SALT App: You can change your emergency contact through App.

How do I remove my Emergency Contact?
There are two ways to remove your emergency contact:
  1. Via SMS: Send an SMS "REMOVEEC <space> Emergency Contact number" from your mobile to 5-62-63-64-65 or 99 58 70 12 12 for BSNL and MTNL users. NOTE: Once you remove your Emergency Contact, you will have an empty slot for Emergency Contact in your account. If you are a free subscriber, you will not have an Emergency Contact. We recommend that you place or add an Emergency Contact as soon as possible.
  2. Via web: Login to your account to remove emergency contact.

How do I stop being an Emergency Contact?
There are two ways for doing this
  1. Via SMS Just send an SMS from your mobile "CANCEL SUBSCRIBER"S MOBILE Number " to 5-62-63-64-65 or 99 58 70 12 12 for BSNL or MTNL users. You will no longer receive any alerts associated to subscriber's mobile number.
  2. Via SALT App

How do I add an Emergency Contact?
There are three ways to add an emergency contact:
  1. Via SMS:Send an SMS 'ADDEC <space> your Emergency Contact number' from your mobile to 5-62-63-64-65 or 99 58 70 12 12 for BSNL or MTNL users. NOTE: Ask your new emergency contact to send from their mobile an SMS to confirm for being your emergency contact.
  2. Via Web: Login to your account and edit it to add an emergency account.
  3. Via App: It's easy to manage your account in App.

How can I have multiple Emergency Contacts?
To have multiple Emergency Contacts, you need to upgrade your account. To upgrade your account, login to your web account from where you can manage all your account details. Login at www.savealifetoday.in .

How many vehicles can be registered?
In free account you can register a single vehicle with one Emergency Contact .However, when you upgrade your account you can register up to five vehicles with up to 5 Emergency Contact(s) for free. This premium service charges a nominal annual amount.

Can I have the same Emergency Contact for all the vehicles?
Yes, you have complete freedom to choose the same Emergency Contact for all your vehicles provided they confirm for you.

Can I have multiple Emergency Contacts for a single vehicle?
Yes, by subscribing to our premium services, you can have up to 5 Emergency Contacts for one vehicle. We also provide you the freedom to customise your account.

What do I do in case I wish to register multiple vehicles with multiple Emergency Contacts?
You need to upgrade your account to register multiple Emergency Contacts with multiple vehicles. The premium service charges are very nominal.

Do I have to pay for all the vehicles that I register?
You can register one vehicle with one Emergency Contact for free. You can subscribe to our premium service with which you can register multiple vehicles with multiple Emergency Contacts in a way that suits your needs. The premium service charges are very nominal.

Can I have multiple registrations using same contact number?
Yes. If you wish to register multiple vehicles in one account i.e. using same contact number, you can upgrade to our premium service which will allow you to have multiple vehicles and multiple Emergency Contacts registered in one account. The premium service charges a nominal annual amount.

How many vehicles and Emergency Contacts can I have?
You can register one vehicle with one Emergency Contact for free. Moreover you can also subscribe to our paid service which is very pocket friendly and allows you to choose as many vehicles and as many Emergency Contacts as you wish.

If I lost my account details, how would I recover them?
Recovering your account details is very easy. Your registered mobile number is your user I.D. and for your password you can simply send "FORGOTPASS" to 5-62-63-64-65 or 99 58 70 12 12 for BSNL or MTNL users from your registered mobile number. Your password will be reset and you will receive your new password via SMS.

How do I change my registered vehicle?
There are three ways of changing your vehicle
  1. Via SMS :Send an SMS from your mobile "SWAP YOUR OLD VEHICLE Number, YOUR NEW VEHICLE Number" to 5-62-63-64-65 or 99 58 70 12 12 for BSNLor MTNL users.
  2. Via Web> :Login to your web account and change your registered vehicle.

How do I remove my registered vehicle?
There are three ways of removing your registered vehicle
  1. Via SMS : Send an SMS from your mobile "REMOVEVEH<space> VEHICLE"S REGISTRATION NO" to 5-62-63-64-65 or 99 58 70 12 12 for BSNLor MTNL users. NOTE: Once you remove the registered vehicle, you would have an empty vehicle slot in your account and if you are not a premium service user, you would have no Registered Vehicle. How do I add a vehicle?
There are three ways of adding a vehicle
  1. Via SMS : To add a vehicle to your account, just send from your mobile an SMS "ADDV <space> VEHICLE Number" to 5-62-63-64-65 or 99 58 70 12 12 for BSNLor MTNL users. NOTE: To add a vehicle to your account, you must have an empty slot for vehicles in your account.
  2. Via Web> :Login to your web account and add a vehicle.
  3. Via SALT App :You can easily add a vehicle in your account with app. Download App to make life secure.

Can multiple people register the same vehicle?
Yes, we do not limit the number of people as many a times more than one person use the same vehicle at the same time ( for e.g. travelling in a bus or availing car pool) or at different instances.

How do I close my account?
For closing SALT account, you just need to send an SMS "LEAVE" from your registered mobile to 5-62-63-64-65 or 99 58 70 12 12 for BSNL or MTNL users. Your account will immediately be closed.

Is it really safe for us?
Using SALT is completely safe. Your details and identity is always kept confidential and is not shared with anyone. As an informer , your phone number will be kept confidential. Only the emergency related information shared by you will be forwarded to the victim's Emergency Contact number.

Can anyone see my account details?
No, your account details are kept completely confidential. All of your account details will be kept safe with us and will only be kept for alert purposes, this is why we have only asked about the most basic information which is strictly related to the service only.

What if I don't see the message from SALT? Is there a kind of reminder?
  • SALT forwards the alerts ( SMSs) received from the witnesses immediately to the designated Emergency Contact(s) of the subscriber. There can be multiple alerts for an emergency and all these alerts will be forwarded to the Emergency Contact(s) of the subscriber in just a few seconds by SALT . Our mobile phones are always with us and hence it is improbable that an Emergency Contact will miss the alert. Furthermore the alert will make such a buzz sound that nobody can miss it.But it is also subject to the availability of your SMS service provider.
  • In addition to SMS, SALT will also send a voice call. We will make sure that you receive the alert.

I don't want to carry all my IDs, do I have to carry all my IDs with me after registering them?
You don't always have to carry your ID with you after you register them. You can simply carry the ID you need at the time. We don't expect you to carry your Passport everytime you go for some shopping.

Do I have to carry my ID with me everytime i leave my home?
You don't have to but we do recommend it. Even if you are not registered with SALT, carrying some form of identification with you is always helpful.
